Restoration begins with qualification
A coating system is a restoration option for a roof that is structurally serviceable and can be prepared to accept a fully adhered system. It is not a way to hide trapped moisture, unstable insulation, deck failure, or widespread membrane loss.
- Confirm roof type and assembly history
- Inspect drainage, seams, penetrations, edges, and repairs
- Use a moisture survey where project conditions require one
- Verify adhesion after cleaning and preparation
When restoration may fit
Restoration can preserve the existing roof, reduce demolition and disruption, add a reflective weathering surface, and create a planned maintenance path. Localized repairs and reinforcement are completed before the field coating is installed.
The roof is sound, dry, repairable, properly attached, drainable, and able to pass the required adhesion and project review.
When replacement deserves the call
Replacement may be the responsible choice when moisture or attachment problems are widespread, the deck is unsound, the assembly cannot be repaired economically, code or load conditions control the project, or the surface cannot be prepared for reliable adhesion.
A complete roof assessment matters more than the desire to avoid tear-off. Restoration only works when the existing assembly earns it.

- Drainage defects that cannot be corrected within the restoration scope
- Incompatible or unstable existing materials
Compare the full service-life plan
Compare more than the first construction cost. Review disruption, tear-off and disposal, insulation needs, detailing, energy goals, warranty requirements, future inspections, and whether the system can be renewed at the end of its term.
Keep inspection photos, moisture information, adhesion-test results, repair scope, system specification, coverage records, and final warranty documentation together.
