Start with the existing roof
The best chemistry is the one that matches a roof that has already been inspected, repaired, cleaned, and proven suitable for restoration. TPO, EPDM, metal, modified bitumen, BUR, and spray foam each bring different adhesion, movement, texture, and preparation demands.
Identify the membrane, map wet areas, confirm drainage, document repairs, and run adhesion tests in representative locations.
Where reinforced acrylic fits
Acrylic elastomeric systems create a reflective, fully adhered weathering surface. A reinforced assembly embeds polyester between base-coat layers, helping the finished membrane bridge field movement and complex details.
Acrylic systems are renewable: when the roof remains serviceable, a future inspection, cleaning, localized repair, and weathering coat can extend the maintenance path.

Where high-solids silicone fits
Silicone is commonly considered where ponding exposure, UV weathering, or an existing compatible surface makes silicone the better project-specific finish. It still depends on a sound substrate, correct primer, repaired details, verified adhesion, and the required film build.
Silicone is not a shortcut around roof qualification. Wet insulation, failed seams, poor drainage, unstable rust, and unsound surfaces must be corrected before coating.

Use a decision, not a slogan
Choose between acrylic and silicone by comparing the existing substrate, moisture condition, drainage, required reinforcement, access, application window, maintenance plan, warranty goal, and current written specifications.
If the roof condition is uncertain, stop at inspection. If the chemistry is uncertain, send the roof brief and adhesion-test results to the technical team.
