ACRYLIC GEL Elastomeric Roof Mastic

DESCRIPTION: White or Gray, water-based acrylic elastomeric mastic for flashing and fabric reinforcement. Non-volatile, highly adhesive, UV resistant, reflective, resistant to thermal shock and moisture.

USES: Use to repair roof blisters, splits, cracks, fishmouths, perimeter base & curb flashings on wood, metal, concrete, urethane, epoxies, rubber, single-plies, BUR asphalt, emulsion, and other surfaces. A highly elastic , adhesive, flexible waterproofing caulking, especially when used with the Stitchbond Polyester Fabric reinforcement.

COLOR: White or Gray. Other colors available by special order: Storm Cloud, Beige, Desert Sand, Brick Red, and 60 Custom colors.

REFLECTANCE: 98.9% average. FTS 141 6121, ASTM E313

WEATHERING: 2,000 hours weatherometer - no cracking, crazing, or erosion, slight chalking. ASTM D638

TEMPERATURE CYCLING AND PENETRATION: Tests conducted in accordance with the "Acceptance Criteria For Special Roofing Systems" as published by the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO). Results: PASS. Samples averaged 1.626 before testing. Samples averaged 1.610 after being subjected to the Weatherometer. The change in thickness was less than 1%. Examination of the samples after testing showed no evidence of tearing or cracking of the protective coating.

*Temperature Cycling & Penetration Testing: 25 continuous cycles, each cycle consisted of 1 hour of water exposure at room temperature prior to 6 hours at
-40° F, 2 hours at 70° F, 14 hours at 180° F and 1 hour at 70° F. Spray nozzles delivered 6 in. of water per hour at a temperature of 40° F to 60° F. At the conclusion of the 25 cycles, the specimens were examined.

FLASH POINT: No Flash at 200° F (water-based). ASTM 1310, Tag Open Cup

FLEXIBILITY: Low Temperature Flexibility: pass 1": -40° F ASTM C836

SURFACE PREPARATION: Surfaces should be clean, dry, free of dust, dirt and oily residues. Remove loose rust from metal, and wipe new galvanized metal with acidic acid solution prior to application. Metacrylics Primer is recommended for all surfaces. New concrete must be fully cured. New glazed asphalt and torch down single-ply assemblies should wait 6 months or more before application.

APPLICATION and COVERAGE RATES:

1. Using a trowel, putty knife, or rubber glove, apply a smooth layer of GEL over the area to be reinforced or repaired. Be sure to overlap the field area (Base and Fabric) at least 2" and 2" up the penetration, curb, or wall.

2. Embed a layer of Fabric into the Gel. Press Fabric firmly into the Gel.

3. Apply a smooth layer of Gel over the Fabric. Allow 12 to 24 hours dry time.
*TIPS: Before 3-Coursing, mask off the surrounding area with masking tape for a clean line. When finished 3-Coursing and while the Gel is still wet, run a paint brush over the wet Gel to remove any applicator lines or ridges. Cold temperatures slow down the drying times. Start early, stop early! Application in hot temperatures should be avoided or blistering of the coating may occur.

THINNING: Cannot be thinned.

CLEAN-UP: Clean tools and equipment with water . Cured material may be removed with Amylacetate, hand cleaner, or lacquer thinner. Do not use these materials (except hand cleaner) on bare skin.

STORAGE: Store in areas where temperature remains above 40oF. Reseal opened containers. If contents skin, remove surface skin and use immediately.

IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION:

DO NOT APPLY if rain or freezing weather is imminent within 24 hours following application, or during fog or drizzle. This product is water-based and could wash off if not fully cured.

KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.

DO NOT APPLY when temperatures are consistently below 40o F. The Acrylic Base dries slowly when temperatures are below 55o F. Areas shaded from sunlight dry very slowly. Seventy-two hours or more may be required for proper curing. DO NOT thin or add solvents. PROTECT materials from freezing AND extreme heat.

CAUTION! Wet acrylic is extremely slippery when stepped on. Always use a safety rope on sloped surfaces.

STIR the Metacrylics Primer before any application! The Base AND Acrylic Colors normally don't need to be stirred before application. Do not stir the Gel.
