ACRYLIC PRIMER Elastomeric Coating

DESCRIPTION: Clear, water-based acrylic elastomeric primer. Non-volatile, highly adhesive primer for almost any surface. When fully cured, the primer is has no surface tackiness and can be walked or driven on.

USES: For use as a roof/deck primer and as an asphalt pavement sealer. Other uses include exterior and below grade waterproofing. May be applied to wood, BUR asphalt, tar & gravel, capsheet, rolled roofing, asphalt shingles, coal tar, single-ply roofing, glass, tile, brick, concrete and stucco surfaces.

COLOR: Clear

FLASH POINT: No flash at 200o F (water-based). ASTM 1310, Tag Open Cup

FLEXIBILITY: pass 1/8": Panel bent over 1/8" mandrel - no cracking or chipping of coating FTMS 141a, Method 6221

TENSILE: Strength: 250 psi Elongation: 300% minimum ASTM D-412

HARDNESS: Shore A 48 ASTM D-676

PERMEABILITY: 0.01 milligrams water loss. Payne Permeability cups.

WEATHERING: 1,000 hours accelerated weathering - no cracking, crazing, or dulling FTMS 141a, Method 6151

SURFACE PREPARATION: Surfaces should be clean, dry, free of dust, dirt and oily residues. Remove loose rust from metal, and wipe new galvanized metal with acidic acid solution prior to application. Metacrylics Primer is recommended for all surfaces. New concrete must be fully cured. New glazed asphalt and torch down single ply assemblies should CURE 6 months or more before application.

SPRAY APPLICATION and COVERAGE RATES: Apply Primer @ 1 gallon/100 sq. ft., using a .031 spray tip. Almost any type of airless may be used since the primer has a consistency of water. Allow 4 to 24 hours drying time. *HINTS: DON'T SPRAY on windy days! Use barricades around the job. Visqueen all skylights, etc., not to be coated. Be sure to have 1/2 a barrel of water to flush the pump and hose when finished, and have extra tips and TSL Throat Seal Liquid on hand. Carefully pour a 1/4" layer of water over the drum of Primer to prevent skinning over.

ROLLER APPLICATION and COVERAGE RATES: Apply Primer @ 1 gallon /100 sq. ft. Allow 12 to 24 hours drying time. Keep application roller is shade when not in use.

HINTS: Allow 4 to 24 hours drying time or dry enough to walk on. Cold temperatures slow down drying time. Start early, stop early!

THINNING: Thin with water

CLEAN-UP: Clean tools and equipment with water. Cured material may be removed with Amylacetate, hand cleaner, or lacquer thinner. Do not use these materials (except hand cleaner) on bare skin.

STORAGE: Store in areas where temperature remains above 40oF. Prior to use, agitate for 2-3 minutes by hand or machine. Reseal opened containers. If contents skin, remove skin, agitate and use immediately.

IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION:

DO NOT APPLY if rain or freezing weather is imminent within 24 hours following application, or during fog or drizzle. This product is water-primer and could wash off if not fully cured.

KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.

DO NOT apply when temperatures are consistently below 40o F. The Acrylic Primer dries slowly when temperatures are below 55o F. Areas shaded from sunlight dry very slowly. Seventy-two hours or more may be required for proper curing.

DO NOT THIN or add solvents.

PROTECT materials from freezing and extreme heat.

CAUTION! Wet acrylic is extremely slippery when stepped on. Use a safety rope around you on sloped surfaces.

ALWAYS STIR the Metacrylics Primer before any application.
